Contracted Food Workers Chair
What is the Purpose
The Food Workers Chair is responsible for obtaining the services of American Indian cooks for the Indian Food booth, the Fry Bread booth, and the Piki Bread Demonstrations.
Who is Involved
The Contracted Food Workers Chair is an Area Chair appointed by the General Food Chair. The Chair coordinates with the Guild Treasurer and recruits volunteers who are willing to provide housing for the cooks while they are working at the Fair.
What are the Tasks
Recruit Indian cooks for Indian Food, Fry Bread, and the Piki Demonstrations.
- contact cooks who have worked in previous years.
- solicit referrals for new candidates to contact, if needed.
Work closely with all the cooks during their stay.
- making sure their needs are met.
- serving as their representative.
Arrange housing for all the cooks during their stay.
Confer with the Guild Treasurer concerning payment for the cooks’ time, travel, and housing.
What is the Suggested Time Line
November
Begin recruiting possible Indian cook candidates.
Begin recruiting volunteers willing to house the cooks during their stay.
Attend the General Fair meeting with all Division and Area Chairs.
January
Attend the General Fair meeting with all Division and Area Chairs.
Confer with the Guild Treasurer to arrange payment for the cooks ’time, travel, and housing.
