"Ask Me" Information Chair
What is the Purpose
The “Ask Me” Information Chair organizes and staffs table stations throughout the Indian Fair & Market where volunteers give information and directions to Fair visitors.
Who is Involved
The “Ask Me” Information Chair is appointed by the Indian Fair & Market Chair. The “Ask Me” Chair, in turn, recruits 8-10 volunteers to assist.
What are the Tasks
Recruit volunteers.
Attend the General Fair meeting with Division and Area Chairs.
Consult with Fair Chair, Staging Chair, and Signage Chair concerning location and sign needs.
Confirm volunteers commitment and verify their schedules.
Submit a list of volunteers to the Volunteer Placement Chair for badges to be made.
Set up tables on Friday prior to the Fair and remove all supplies from table areas at the end of the Fair on Sunday.
Oversee the “Ask Me” stations as volunteers provide information and directions to Fair visitors.
Acknowledge, by thank you notes or other means, appreciation for the work done by the volunteers.
Prepare and submit four copies of the annual”Ask Me” Information Chair Report to the Indian Fair & Market Chair using the Sample Committee Report Format as a guide. These reports will be distributed to the incoming Indian Fair & Market Chair; “Ask Me” Information Chair; and President. One copy will be filed in the Museum’s Library and Archives.
What is the Suggested Time Line
November
Attend the General Fair meeting with the Division and Area Chairs.
Begin recruiting volunteers.
January
Attend the General Fair meeting with the Division and Area Chairs.
Request that copies of maps, artist lists, Fair Programs, etc. be provided.
February
Confirm volunteers commitment and verify their schedules.
Submit a list of volunteers to the Volunteer Placement Chair for badges to be made.
March
Set up tables on Friday prior to the Fair and remove all supplies from table areas at the end of the Fair on Sunday.
Oversee “Ask Me” stations during the Fair.
Acknowledge the work done by the volunteers.
Prepare and submit a written report to the Chair of the Indian Fair & Market.
