Floaters Chair
What is the Purpose
The Floaters Chair provides a back-up pool of volunteers to fill in for last minute no-shows, temporary booth relief, or emergency needs at the Guild Indian Fair & Market.
What is Involved
The Floaters Chair is appointed by the Indian Fair & Market Chair. The Floaters Chair, in turn, recruits volunteers to provide help during the Fair.
What are the Tasks
Recruit volunteers to provide help wherever needed during the Fair.
Attend General Fair meetings with Division and Area Chairs.
Coordinate with the Volunteer Placement Chair in obtaining volunteers.
Consult with General Fair Chair, Staging Chair, and Signage Chair concerning booth and sign needs.
Confirm volunteers commitment and verify their schedules.
Submit the list of volunteers to the Volunteer Placement Chair for badges to be made.
Set up booth on Friday prior to the Fair and remove all supplies on Sunday at closing.
Communicate with Chairs during the Fair to see if, when, and where help is needed.
Acknowledge, by thank you notes or other means, appreciation for the work done by the volunteers.
Prepare and submit four copies of the annual Floaters Chair Report to the Indian Fair & Market Chair using the Sample Committee Report Format as a guide. These reports will be distributed to the incoming Indian Fair & Market Chair; Floaters Chair; and President. One copy will be filed in the Museum’s Library and Archives.
What is the Suggested Time Line
October
Begin recruiting volunteers.
November
Attend General Fair meetings with Division and Area Chairs.
