Parking Chair

What is the Purpose

The Museum’s Security Chief is responsible for securing parking for the Indian Fair & Market.  The Parking Chair provides logistical support, secures volunteers, and develops maps for use by artists, visitors, and volunteers.

Who is Involved

The Parking Chair is appointed by the Indian Fair & Market Chair.  The Parking Chair, in turn, recruits volunteers to assist.  The Parking Chair also works closely with the Museum’s Facilities Manager and Security Chief and the Fair Chair.

What are the Tasks

Confer with the Museum’s Facilities Manager and Security Chief to become acquainted with the organizations and agencies who own parking facilities near the Heard Museum.

Assist the Security Chief in his/her efforts to determine parking needs and assess adequacy of available space.

Attend the General Fair meetings with the Division and Area Chairs and keep everyone advised concerning the availability of parking.

Develop, print, and circulate a map of available parking areas, showing those reserved for volunteers, artists, and the handicapped.

Recruit volunteers, as necessary, to provide directions to available parking and attendants at Handicapped parking areas to prevent non-handicapped parking.

Submit a list of volunteers to the Volunteer Placement Chair for badges to be made.

Oversee parking process and handle parking issues.

Submit expense vouchers (with receipts) to the Guild Treasurer for payment.

Acknowledge, by thank you notes or other means, appreciation for the work done by the volunteers.

Prepare and submit four copies of the annual Parking Chair Report to the Indian Fair & Market Chair using the Sample Committee Report Format as a guide.   These reports will be  distributed to the incoming Indian Fair & Market Chair; Parking Chair; and President.  One copy will be filed in the Museum’s Library and Archives.
