Permits Chair

What is the Purpose

The Permits Chair prepares and submits the paperwork needed to obtain the required permits for the Fair.

Who is Involved

The Permits Chair is appointed by the Indian Fair & Market Chair.   The Permits Chair basically works alone but does coordinate with the Staging Chair and the Guild Treasurer.

 What are the Tasks

Attend the General Fair meeting with the Division and Area Chairs.

Consult with the Staging Chair to determine what permits are required and to secure maps of the tent layout.

Contact the appropriate agencies to secure the necessary application forms.

Prepare and submit the necessary application forms by late December or early January.

  • Applications are normally submitted in person.
  • Seven copies of all documents are required.

Consult with the Guild Treasurer to arrange payment of application fees.

Contact appropriate agencies when permits have not been issued in a timely manner.

Prepare and submit four copies of the annual Permits Chair Report to the Indian Fair & Market Chair using the Sample Committee Report Format as a guide.   These reports will be distributed to the incoming Indian Fair & Market Chair; Permits Chair; and President.  One copy will be filed in the Museum’s Library and Archives.

What is the Suggested Time Line

November

Attend the General Fair meeting.

December/January

February
